Monster Hunter Tri Officially Coming To Wii

Monster Hunter Tri was released on August 1st in Japan, alongside a bundle that contained a black Wii Console, and controllers. The title has been hugely popular in Japan and was originally slated for release on Sony’s Playstation 3, until it was announced that the high costs of development would shift the project over to Nintendo’s Wii console.

Capcom announced today through a press release that the title will officially be coming Stateside in early 2010. As well as the official release it was announced that it would contain four player online co-op, 2 player split-screen and new underwater environments.

“Fans of Nintendo and Monster Hunter are eagerly anticipating the launch of this title in the US, which will be the first time the series is available on a Nintendo home console,” said Steve Singer, Nintendo of America’s Vice President of Licensing. “Having Capcom bring Monster Hunter Tri to the Wii console provides tremendous action, fun and entertainment to both veteran players and series newcomers alike.”

Visitors to the European Games Convention in Cologne, Germany will be able to demo a localized version of the title. The Monster Hunter series has sold over 10 million units in its lifetime. Stay tuned to Nintendojo for more information in the future.
