Taylor Swift Playable in Band Hero

Country music sensation Taylor Swift has a new bullet point on her resume; video game character. Activision announced today that the singer/songwriter has been plucked to be a playable character in their upcoming title Band Hero and will have three songs featured in the game. Those songs are “Love Story”, “You Belong With Me”, and “Picture to Burn”. When asked about the game she had the following to say:

“Anything that encourages people to pick up an instrument and play, I’m fully behind. And, I’m really excited about Band Hero, because not only are fans getting to play my songs, but I’m actually in the game,” said Swift. “There are so many awesome things that go into being in Band Hero, like getting to customize my band to look like my touring band, and it’s so cool for people to feel like they are experiencing one of my concerts. This is one of the closest things out there to going to see me perform!”

Alongside the announcement of her inclusion in the game Activision also announced that 20 fans will win the opportunity to see Taylor in concert and that four of those fans will be able to meet her in person.

Band Hero is brought to you by the same people that brought you the hugely successful Guitar Hero franchise. Band Hero features the hottest chart-topping hits from everyone’s favorite acts including Taylor Swift, No Doubt, Lily Allen, The All-American Rejects and Jackson 5. It is scheduled to be available this November for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and developed by Neversoft. The Playstation 2 and Nintendo Wii versions of the game will be developed by Vicarious Visions and is rated E10. Porom's Tale Quick Look

Porom's Tale: The Vanished Lunar Whale is the first of the latest three installments of the Final Fantasy IV sequel. If you're like me you've probably noticed going along that the stories are only loosely based on the title of the chapter. Porom's Tale begins shortly after the events of Final Fantasy IV and progresses in small leaps through time to end up during the events of The After Years. You should know up front that there is much less combat during this episode than any of the previous chapters. This is mainly due to your party comprising mostly of White Mages.

The prologue of the story takes you to the Underground world of the Dwarves where you will learn a lot about Luca. You will finally learn the origin of her new look for The After Years, how she became Cid's apprentice and who she has a crush on. During this point Rydia, Palom and Porom head to the Feymarch to help Palom continue his training to become a Sage. You will also learn a bit about Rydia's background and how she aged so quickly during the events of the first game. After this the second half of the game shifts its focus back to Porom.

The Elder of Mysidia has become concerned about Baron's future and calls on Porom. She is tasked by the Elder of Mysidia to head to Mt. Ordeals to find the dragoon, Kain. He asks an unnamed Black Mage and White Mage to accompany Porom during her quest. The trio head up Mt. Ordeals where Porom is confronted by a member of Cecil's past, and who Porom seems to remember. As previously mentioned there is not a lot of combat that happens during this chapter and most of the fighting will occur after Kain has joined your party.

The events of the second half of the game wrap around the events of Edge's Tale, Palom's Tale and the first chapter of The After Years The back and forth nature of the story can be a bit confusing, especially if you are not buying all the chapters of The After Years. You just have to understand going in that you're going to be in for more story telling that is usual in RPG's and that may turn some people off, but the fact that this chapter, more than any other so far, has tied all the different parts together. The Lunar Whale mentioned in the title, make a brief appearance and does not really play into the story at this point in any way.

Modern Warfare Mobilizes to DS This Year

It has been implied that Modern Warfare would not be showing up on any Nintendo platform this year. That has changed as Activision today announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized will be coming to Nintendo DS on November 10th.

This new version of Call of Duty will be developed by N-Space, the company that developed the previous two versions of of the game, as well as Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for Nintendo DS. Mobilized will deliver an arsenal of cutting-edge weaponry, vehicles and tactics, arming players with precision controls for battle across the world’s most dangerous hotspots. Gamers will fight on the ground in intense building-to-building tactical combat, hack into enemy computer terminals, take the controls of military vehicles like Battle Tanks and UAV spy drones, or man the guns of an AC-130 gunship. The title will also serve up a bevy of features, including a six-player online multiplayer mode that allows friends to host their own server, as well as the brand new Survival Mode, giving players a variety of weapons to hold off waves of oncoming enemy forces and an expanded six-player online multiplayer mode. Also, Arcade Mode will allow gamers to replay the game’s single-player with a time limit and running score, with extra points awarded for specific achievements.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized launches alongside the console versions of Modern Warfare 2 on November 10th and is rated T for Teen.

Monster Hunter Tri Officially Coming To Wii

Monster Hunter Tri was released on August 1st in Japan, alongside a bundle that contained a black Wii Console, and controllers. The title has been hugely popular in Japan and was originally slated for release on Sony’s Playstation 3, until it was announced that the high costs of development would shift the project over to Nintendo’s Wii console.

Capcom announced today through a press release that the title will officially be coming Stateside in early 2010. As well as the official release it was announced that it would contain four player online co-op, 2 player split-screen and new underwater environments.

“Fans of Nintendo and Monster Hunter are eagerly anticipating the launch of this title in the US, which will be the first time the series is available on a Nintendo home console,” said Steve Singer, Nintendo of America’s Vice President of Licensing. “Having Capcom bring Monster Hunter Tri to the Wii console provides tremendous action, fun and entertainment to both veteran players and series newcomers alike.”

Visitors to the European Games Convention in Cologne, Germany will be able to demo a localized version of the title. The Monster Hunter series has sold over 10 million units in its lifetime. Stay tuned to Nintendojo for more information in the future.
